#CLSIsOpen: Chester-le-Street is open, safe, and welcoming

We want to get more of you involved in celebrating all the good things Chester-le-Street has to offer, using the #CLSIsOpen hashtag.

Not surprisingly, the last few months have been a turbulent time for many businesses – but County Durham folk don’t give up easily, and it’s been heartening to see the determination, resilience and creativity that so many of Chester-le-Street’s shops and businesses have shown.

As the town has come back to life with the easing of lockdown restrictions, it has been great to see so many shoppers and visitors embracing the “shop local” message.

If you are one of the many people who has supported our fantastic local businesses at this time, and helped them get back on their feet, then thank you – it really is appreciated.

Remember, two thirds of our town’s businesses are independently run, so every pound that you spend with them is making a real difference to local jobs and families.

Now, with some measures against COVID once again tightened in the North East – and still the potential for more restrictions, if infection rates rise – it is more important than ever to keep supporting the businesses that you love, and, if you can, to keep as much of your spend as possible in the local area this Christmas.

As you will know yourself, businesses across the town have gone to immense lengths to make their premises safe, while not losing the warm welcome that makes people want to visit in the first place.

Our Shop Chester-le-Street social media is always full of these reassuring and uplifting stories – after all, we all need as much positivity as possible in our lives right now!
